In a remarkable day for gold, it closed up at $1,818 after touching $1,830 in New York. That was after a p.m. Fix of $1,824.00. Before London opened, gold stood in Asia at a staggering $1,847.15 nearly $30 higher. In the euro it stood at €1,292.75. In an even more remarkable day in London, it has raced up yet again to Fix in London at $1,862 up from yesterday’s $1,794.50. In the euro it was Fixed at €1,299.28 up from €1,246.44 yesterday, at the time the dollar traded at €1: $1.4405. Full Story

Gold rose to as high as $1794.60 by about 5:30AM EST before it fell back to $1777.50 by late morning in New York, but it then rallied back higher in the last couple of hours of trade and ended with a gain of 0.44% at a new record closing high. Silver climbed to as high as $40.558 by about 10:30AM before it fell back to $39.72 in the next hour or so of trade, but it also rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 1.21%. In New York yesterday gold rose $28.00 to $1,781.70, while the SPDR gold Exchange Traded Fund saw 12 tonnes sold. Overnight, in Asia, gold again rose another $5. After London opened, gold again rose another $10 to $1,794.2 ahead of the morning Fix. The euro was stronger by 50 cents at $1.4432. In the euro the gold price was €1,243.21 up €8. The Swiss Franc and the Yen are now being forced slightly higher after the Swiss National Bank increased the Franc’s liquidity in the market. Today saw the gold price Fixed at $1,792 up $13 a total of $54 in two days and in the euro at €1,240.4 up €26 in two days. Ahead of New York it was pulling back to $1,784.00. Full Story

Gold climbed almost 1% to $1769.82 in after hours access trade yesterday and held about $10 higher in Asia before it rose to as high as $1786.54 in New York and then stabilized a bit in late trade, but it still ended with a gain of 1.59% and just fifty cents away from last Wednesday’s record closing high. Silver climbed to $39.96 in after hours access trade yesterday before it fell back to $39.26 by a little before 8AM EST, but it then rose to as high as $40.11 in New York and ended with a gain of 1.17%. The euro was stronger at $1.4377 up nearly a cent. In the euro the gold price was €1,235.58 up €23. The Swiss Franc and the Yen are now being forced higher again at 0.7828 and the Yen at 76.84 to the dollar. Today saw the gold price Fixed at $1,779 up $41 on yesterday and in the euro at €1,236.19 up €22. Thereafter it moved up ahead of New York to $1,780.20. The euro remained steady at 1.4362. Over the weekend, gold slipped a little to $1,735 ahead of London’s opening. The euro was stronger at $1.43: €1, but these days that only means that the euro is not falling as fast as the dollar.
