The New York gold price was almost unchanged at $1,257.40 down 50 cents at the close on Thursday. Asia took it up to $1,261.35 ahead of London’s opening. London set the gold price at $1,260.00 up $1.50 up on Thursday. In the euro, it Fixed at €928.724 down nearly €2, while the dollar stood at $1.3567 slightly weaker. Ahead of the opening in New York gold stood at $1,260.15 and in the euro at €928.87. Full Story
Gold is marginally higher again today in all currencies and heading for a higher weekly close of 1.4% in dollars. Gold eked out slight gains yesterday after the ECB and BOE kept rates at 300 year lows. Full Story
The European central bank meeting was a dud yesterday. Now the focus shifts to US January nonfarm payrolls. Traders will be looking forward to the bad weather effects. It is better not to react to the headline numbers. One should rather wait and then make a trade after the release of January nonfarm payrolls. Technically gold is looking bullish but needs to trade over $1253 today to target $1282-$1296. Silver can rise to $2074-$2134 as long as it trades over $1960. As long as copper prices remain firm, silver will not fall by much. Full Story

Gold climbed to $1266.78 by a little before 9AM EST before it fell back to $1253.03 in the next couple of hours of trade, but it then edged back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.04%. Silver popped up to $20.182 before it dropped back to $19.853, but it still ended with a gain of 0.45%. Full Story

Gold edged up to $1260.83 in Asia Before it dropped back to $1247.31 in early New York trade, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.25%. In the euro, it Fixed at €922.582 up €2.044 reflecting a slightly stronger dollar which stood at $1.3504 up 0.29 cents.
